Personality and History
Harry is a selfless person who's done everything he could to support the weak, and defend them from those who he deems to be rude, selfish, or downright evil. He is a great friend to have, and while he sometimes has anger issues, he always feels guilt for these flashes, and reasons himself past it, usually before he makes a mistake in his anger. When other's sacrifice themselves for him, it makes him feel weak, but instead of actually becoming weak, he uses it as fuel to do the right thing, no matter how difficult. Despite being famous, he is extremely humble. Though sometimes prone to feeling underappreciated or forgotten because of this, again, he converts this nervous energy into fuel to prove himself as often as needed.
Harry Potter was targeted by the Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort (A.K.A. Tom Marvalo Riddle). His parents were killed protecting him. When Voldemort finally reached Harry, the killing curse launched at the one-year-old rebounded, due to the ancient magic that his mother, Lily Potter cast by sacrificing herself for him. This left a lightning shaped scar on Harry's forehead.
Harry was raised by his muggle relatives, and did not know what had happened to him, or that he was a wizard, until he was informed that he had been accepted at Hogwarts at the age of eleven. Due to a serious neglect on information on the part of his Aunt and Uncle, Harry had trouble learning magic in most of it's forms, but took a serious liking to Defense Against the Dark Arts.
In his fourth year, Harry developed the desire to become an Auror, and through diligence, hard work, and none too few deadly encounters with Voldemort and his minions, developed the magical skill and ability to become an Auror, even while taking Potions classes with his professor (Severus Snape) showing him a supreme dislike due to a childhood rivalry that Severus Snape had had with Harry's father.
Harry Potter was the first Triwizard Champion in over a hundred years, due partly to his own skill, and the help of his friends. It should be noted, however, that Harry Potter received help from Bartimus Crouch Junior, who had been a death eater, and was posing as Alastor Moody to get close to Harry and ensure that he was sent to a graveyard to play a part in resurrecting Lord Voldemort from a near-death state, and that while Harry would not have even been in the tournament to begin with, if not for Crouch, he also would not have survived.
Harry dropped out of Hogwarts after his sixth year, due to the return of Voldemort, and went searching for the source of Voldemort's seeming immortality. When he returned to Hogwarts, he and Voldemort dueled. Due to Voldemort using a wand that recognized Harry as it's master, Voldemort lost the duel, and his life.
For over a decade following, Harry served the Ministry of Magic as an Auror, but, wanting to settle down, as well as keep an eye on his grandchildren who were nearing Horwarts age, Harry accepted the Headmaster of Hogwart's request to take a position as Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts.

Harry unpacked his bags in his new office, and looked around. The room was exactly as he remembered from his days as a student. Of course there were scorches and burns over parts of the classroom. It had seemed that some of the damage from the battle of Hogwarts had been preserved, a monument to the loss of life and the victory achieved at the castle. Harry often thought back to those days. The hardship had done nothing to make Harry bitter or angry. He was happy to have gotten out alive, and knew that those who had died would not want him to feel badly about their deaths. They knew what they had been doing.
That didn't stop Harry from sometimes staring out into space, thinking about the faces of some of his friends he had lost. Lupin... Fred... Tonks... Moody... Two of his own Defense Against the Dark Arts professors had died trying to aid Harry in defeating Voldemort. He would do anything to bring them back. To ask for their advice as he took on their own positions.
For a moment, Harry wildly considered searching the Forbidden Forest for the Ring of Marvalo Gaunt... the Resurrection Stone... to ask them for that advice. He knew it was irrational, and that he'd never do it. They were at rest... and nothing would ever convince him to disturb them. He would have to wait until he went wherever he had gone to see them again.
It didn't stop him from fantasizing, though...
